☆Small Edo Town☆

Do you know that there are small towns in Japan, where you can still feel like in the Edo Period?

One of those towns is just near my place within 30 minutes by train.

Kawagoe is the so-called "Koedo," meaning a small town that you can feel Edo aspects.

Recently, I got one day off and I went there because not only I wanted to know it more deeply but also I wanted to show you how great this place was.

To be honest, it is more modern rather than Edo but it is worth place you can visit, anyway.

Using Seibu Shinjuku Line, the last stop, Hon-Kawagoe, is the nearest station to this nostalgic place.
Look at those buildings! Those Western modern buildings were built in the early 1900s and still there.

Here's some warehouse type of buildings from the 1800s, we call them "KURA."

I happened to see a wedding ceremony at that time, which was old Japanese style wearing Kimono and riding a man-powered car. So you may also see it by chance when you visit here.

More squeezed into the street, I found the huge old house built in 1925, Mr Yamazaki's Old House.
The old type of Japanese bathroom
The squat toilet!
The stairs to the upper floor and beautiful stained glass windows
The main entrance
The living room.
The view from the living room
The dining room.
The Japanese rooms
The tea ceremony room in the garden

You can enjoy all the rooms and facilities except the upper floor at only 100 yen!

How about adding this fascinating National Important Cultural Property to your bucket list of next visit to Japan?

I hope you would enjoy this article about a small trip to Kawagoe.

See you next time!
