☆How do plastics affect environmental?☆

Recently, the affection of plastic waste to the environment is becoming a huge problem.
Do you know how do plastic waste affect the environment?
I read the article about anti-plastic life and I want to share a bit about it. (Takada, H. (2019, August 1). For Future life. The Health and Peace, p. 6.)

More than 400 million tons of plastic products are produced every year in the world and half of them are single-use; such as plastic bags, cups, food packages and so on. Some of those garbages might be thrown away, or blown away from bins by winds.
Most plastic wastes are light enough to be flown by rain and winds to rivers and finally to the sea.
While these wastes are being on the sea, they will break into small pieces under 5 mm by the force of wave and violet-ray.

Eco-Business. (2018, June 5). Microplastics: Small plastics, big problem. Retrieved from https://www.eco-business.com/opinion/microplastics-small-plastics-big-problem/.

These microplastics are estimated around more than 50 trillion in the sea.
The problem is that many sea creatures including birds, turtles, shellfishes and fishes may eat microplastics with food. Furthermore, humans and other animals living on the lands may eat these sea-related creatures.
As a result, all the ecosystem would be polluted by microplastics which were produced by human beings.

Greentech Challenge. (2019, May 23). Ocean Conservation. Retrieved from https://www.greentechchallenge.eu/single-post/2019/05/23/Ocean-Conservation-Microplastics-in-the-Food-Chain.

There is another huge problem with microplastics.
Plastic contains abundant types of toxic chemical and substances which improve plastic functions; such as plasticiser, ultraviolet absorber, antioxidant, and flame-retardant.
They cause endocrine disruption, reproduction toxicity, allergy increase, immunity reduction, and obesity.
(I don't know specific technical terms but you will understand the meaning of these terms.)

Recent epidemiological research in Europe shows that the number of sperm of an adult male has decreased half in these 40 years. The cause should be chemicals containing in plastic.

Single-use plastic is very useful and convenient but at the same time, it has a huge possibility of unforeseen healthy and wellness problems.
It is important how we have to deal with.
However, the most important thing, in my opinion, is to think about whether we need it or not before the action; buying it or taking it.
Take action before the action!
